Book Review:The Google Story

The comments made by me in this review are purely of individual nature & if found similar to someone else's review is purely coincidental.

I just completed reading a book on one of the most dynamic companies of the modern era, the book is called The Google Story by David Wise & as the name obviously suggests,the book is on one of the most powerful brands in the world today called Google Inc.

Generally i am not much into non fiction or biography, i prefer reading fiction & this book is one of my few attempts at non fiction or may be i should categorize this book into business & management.

The book basically starts with the inception of Google by its young co-founders Larry Page & Sergy Brin ( classmates in Stanford University) & how in just 7 years ( founded-1998) the company not only became one of the powerful technological companies in terms of its technological innovations & cash position in terms of market valuation but also one of the most exciting places to work for, where people were leaving their jobs in Microsoft,Bell Labs & believe it or not even NASA to work for the young & dynamic firm called Google.

The power of the brand Google can be best summed when one of the users of Google calls the present era as the Google Economy & how this company brought about a paradigm shift in the way each one of us searches virtually everything on the text box that is provided in the Google.com home page.

I feel that it is a must read for the people who are business/management professionals as it does not provide only technical gyan but also reveals information about the company's exciting, sometimes maverick HR practices, its PR & Marketing power & its financial strength & the implications it has on its shareholders.
